HORSE RESCUE RAILROAD

People have a hard time saving some horses because they're too far away. This is a place to post if you can help with transporting or overnight stays for horses going to their new homes. We need volunteers with trailers to join in and help us with this! I have a large farm with plenty of room for overnight stays if needed, but my trailer isn't any good to help out that way. If you have an extra spot on a trailer, would you mind filling it up with a rescue horse on it's way home? If you need a ride somewhere, post it and we'll see what we can do.

THE HORSE RESCUE BRIGADE
We are a body of individuals organized for a special purpose. This brigade is for the purpose of getting more efficient at saving horses, especially those where there are large volumes of horses going through auctions where there is little lead time to let people know. It is a working group, performing tasks that involve collecting and organizing information, communication, etc. In other words, auctions will get treated as 'projects' and hopefully we will get better and better at planning and executing a plan as we do more of these. Also a place to come and 'submit a project' such as an auction just learned about. The people on this group will then see individually and collectively what they can do to get the word out to known channels, to identify and track down additional channels specific to the horses going through, and whatever else is appropriate and doable. And above all it is a place where people can ask "what can I do?"

The essence of this group is 'rescue work' ... and this group works to bring together people involved in horses in all sorts of ways in order to get more rescue work done. Our definition of 'rescuer' is very broad and we agree not to discuss our disagreements about what constitutes 'rescue' but for the purposes of working together accept it as getting horses out of situations where they are at risk for slaughter, starvation, and other forms of advertent and inadvertent abuse.
