Ken Najorka Horsemanship Clinic June 28, 2008
|
July 7 2008 Post Clinic Comments from Michelle
Our first ever horsemanship clinic went pretty well, despite it being one million degrees out. Our facility (provided by Brock and Lisa Dalrymple) was awesome. Our volunteers kicked booty as always, and helped make the day go smoothly and safely for all. Our sponsors were fabulous and we are thankful for their involvement... All About Grills Oviedo and Publix were a big hit with very yummy BBQ food and Horstmeyers put together some incredible rider/participant goody bags that almost caused fist fights over.
Our participants were super nice and we worked on simple groundwork skills in the morning, and then got in the saddle for a few hours in the afternoon. Over all, we put on a good clinic, but we can improve our clinic format by creating more one on one learning time for participants. Once we implement these and a few other changes, we will have a first class environment to learn and grow as horse people.
On a personal note, my heart soared as I got to watch Miss Lisa and Ruby (one of our rescues) participate in the clinic. Miss Lisa sported her new cowgirl boots and did a great job guiding and teaching Ruby in the first segment of the clinic. Ruby was a little nervous at first, but calmed quickly and did a great job for Lisa. Both are learning all Level One Parelli stuff and Dennis Reis Freedom Course curriculum.
Thanks again to all our sponsors, volunteers, and Brock and Lisa for letting us use their facilities. We will be doing another clinic sometime in the Fall, so please check back with us soon for updated info.
Check out some of the clinic photos below. To see all the clinic photos, go to our Photo Album Page.

Our Day at The Fair April 20, 2008
Our day at the Fair was pretty good. We had a booth from 10-3:00 in the Livestock part of the Fair. We had Miss Lisa's Famous Oatmeal & Chocolate Chip Cookies and Brownie's (they are so good, fist fights break out over them), Miss Barbie and Yvonne whipped up some Homemade Peppermint Horse Treats (the horses go crazy for them), and I made some very yummy M&M Bars, plus we had Western Calendars and Goody Bags for sale, and Cowboy/Cowgirl Bead and Foam Bracelets for kids to make for Free.
Our only disappointment about the day was we didn't get as many folks as we wanted to our very awesome booth. We liked our Booth, but the location was not in the flow of traffic, so although some people stopped in, we didn't get the crowd we hoped for. Live and Learn. Despite that, look for us there again next year as we had a great time and want to continue to be a part of this great event.
Check out some pictures of our day below and on our Photo Album Page.

"For too long we have occupied ourselves with responding to the consequences of cruelty and abuse and have neglected the important task of building up an ethical system in which justice for animals is regarded as the norm rather than the exception. Our only hope is to put our focus on the education of the young."
